CBD is the major non-psychotropic cannabinoid found in Hemp. It is the principal cannabinoid present in fiber-type Hemp (in the form of its carboxylic acid CBDA), a plant that is easily available to researchers, in contrast to the strictly controlled drug-type Hemp varieties. Second to THC, the pharmacological effects of CBD have been best studied of all cannabinoids. It has notable anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. Furthermore, sedating, hypnotic, anti-epileptic, and antidystonic effects have been described. Also, CBD is a modulator of some types of opioid-receptors, and can modulate sleep. The German Extract Method results in a high CBD product that tests lower than .3% THC.
